Artist Sean Norvet draws viewers in with his whimsical mash up of photo realism, cartoon characters and everyday consumer objects. While silly and not too serious, his works integrates many found objects today, which could be found in any household. His reference to pop culture and his compilation of those element to everyday citizens calls into question the role each of these items play in our everyday lives. Is our consumerist nation reduced to the sum of it’s (cheaply produced) parts? Are we consumed by our everyday indulgences and wants? Norvet’s light hearted, humorous approach draws us to his pieces keeping us engaged all the while reflecting about ourselves. What would an image of each of us look like, surrounded by the things we consume on a daily basis?
